When we got off of the ferry we spent three days dry camping near Port Aux Basques. We then went to Stephenville and camped on the old WWII airport at the end of one of the old taxi ways. This was Harmon field and was built US Army Air Corp. http://www.heritage.nf.ca/law/stephenville_base.html
All of the streets in the town are named after US States.
Our next stop was Corner Brook; it was the first time we had any hookups but no Wi-Fi. Corner Brook is the only city in the west coast of any size. This was a very clean city with extremely friendly people.
We are at Rocky Harbour now and will leave in the morning. We have seen a good portion of the west coast. Our next stop is Saint Anthony; this is at the top of the western peninsula. We won’t have any Wi-Fi in the campgrounds for the next week. The west coast area is very sparsely populated with limited services.
How beautiful!! We are glad you are having such a great time and keep taking a lot of pictures. Enjoy and be safe.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret and Chuck,
ReplyDeleteNorm and I just got off the ferry (a 7 hour delay) and are in NS. We were in Newfoundland from June 6 thru July 28 and loved it. Just thought I would see what we missed by not taking the caravan. Already, by your pictures I see we didn't get rigged up to fly! That looked interesting. Hope you have a great and safe trip, Would love to talk when you get home. Lois Showers
Hi dad....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! sorry we couldn't sing to you but we were thinking about you!!!
